Sponsored links and Pay Per Click (PPC)
If you want your website to stand out in search results on the major search engines, pay per click (PPC) advertising may be the way to go. These ads are the ones you see listed as Sponsored Links, Featured Listings, Paid Listings or Sponsored Listings.
In order to use PPC advertising a company will bid on keywords that are related to their business, and every time someone is searching for a company offering your services to Canadians using those keywords, the PPC ads will pop up either at the top of the list, on the bottom, or on one side of the page. They usually have bold or colored text to stand out.
When a keyword is bid on, that is only part of the PPC equation. Next is where you will be listed on the PPC rankings. There are often three or more PPCs per keyword click that pop up in major search engines. Sometimes, paying more per click through will move you up the ranking of those sponsored lists. Now, don’t think that every time your website is mentioned on a search engine page you will be out a lot of money.
As the name implies, it is pay per click. That means you will only pay when someone actually clicks on the link to your website and visits your page. Some search engines are creating new formulas to decide who gets highest billing on the sponsored links area. As more of your competitors catch on to this advertising method, this could mean a tougher time keeping top ranking. This is where we come in, optimizing your PPC campaign to keep you on top.
